Retreat Theme: A Journey into Unconditional Stillness and Love

Set amidst the beautiful landscapes of a tranquil village in Burgundy, France, these meditative retreats at La Maison offers a transformative space. Together, we will engage in serious self-exploration, free from any hierarchy but imbued with a sense of deep friendship, care, and trust. It's crucial to recognize that this retreat offers a sacred space, one that isn't conducive to debates or the assertion of strong opinions, even regarding the teachings. The intention isn't to saturate our minds with more words and knowledge about the teachings, but to gently and compassionately empty ourselves and explore the questions and insights arising from the depths of our being. Emphasis will be placed on both inner and outer silence.

Among many other deep existential questions, we are going to explore such questions of our day-to-day lives in a safe and compassionate space: Is there a new way of living which is not based upon past conditioning, repetitive fears, sorrows, guilt and old patters of thought and emotions? Is there a new way of relating to oneself and one-another which is not based on escaping from one’s loneliness or emptiness? How to meet this existential emptiness or void without running away from it? What is true inner freedom beyond habitual reactions? Why do we suffer, and is it possible to end psychological suffering? Can we experience love that is free from attachment, jealousy, and possessiveness? Is there an insight that can shift us from mechanical reactivity to a lively, non-reactive presence? How can we let go the heavy burden of the past and discover fresh inner resources for a new way of living? 

This retreat is an invitation to pause, reflect, and explore these questions together with an open heart and mind. Throughout the retreat, we will embark on a journey of profound self-exploration, guided by compassionate attention, care, and trust.

It is a large and beautiful mansion situated 2.30 hours from Paris in a lovely  ancient village, close to the immense Bertranges forest, 18 kms from La Charité-sur-Loire railway station.
