"I’m Sohini Bhashya, a 19 years old student from India, studying Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University College of Groningen in the Netherlands. I am grateful to have this opportunity to study here and without the support of many well wishers this was almost impossible to imagine. Therefore, I would like to kindly ask for your financial support to continue my education for next year. Let me tell you a bit about myself: I was brought up and educated in a school founded by J. Krishnamurti in India as well as another in the UK, I was fortunate enough to be exposed to an inquiring and open-ended learning environment where academic subjects are taught relating to all aspects of life and a great emphasis is given on self-knowledge and psychological well-being. Growing up in these schools helped me to develop a sensitivity towards earth, nature and all its inhabitants. I also understood that learning is an ongoing living process where all important aspects of one’s personality, including emotional, spiritual and physical, are involved. I love the concept of studying Liberal Arts & Sciences which gives me a wide scope to explore various fields of knowledge and gradually move in the direction of specialization. I see the great value of interdisciplinary studies to develop a more comprehensive and holistic outlook in meeting the global challenges facing humanity.
